The bid window for the current list of WLB properties has passed. Additional properties will be available in the future.
The Waterbury Land Bank Authority (“WLB”) promotes owner occupied residences within our target neighborhoods.
Properties with structures that are purchased from the Land Bank will require that either: 1) the purchaser may be a contractor who will rehabilitate the structure on the property and sell it to a home buyer who will reside in the property; or 2) an individual that will rehabilitate the house on the property and live within the house. The homebuyer or resident must commit to living within the house for a minimum of five (5) years. Additionally, developers or contractors who rehabilitate the houses must sell the property to a buyer that will live within the house for a minimum of five (5) years. This home ownership and residence requirement will be imposed via a deed restriction against the property. This restriction will be released after the 5-year compliance period. Buyers who cannot meet the restriction set forth will have the property ownership revert back to the Waterbury Land Bank Authority after the compliance period if compliance is not met.
If you are interested in purchasing a property from the WLB, please create a user account and view properties. To complete an application to bid on a specific property, simply click the “apply” indicator which is located on the bottom line of each property being offered for sale. You will be required to create a User Account to complete a bid application. The WLB will review all applications and each applicant will be contacted. Follow up letters and bid forms will be sent to applicants.
Priority is given to those who intend on purchasing a property to use as their own residence or who wish to sell the property to an owner user. Please see the Narrative on Ranking Bid Applications and Worksheet which can be referred to by the applicant when determining the bid response to the WLB.
Completing an application does not constitute a binding offer to purchase, nor does it constitute an agreement with the WLB. The opportunity to “apply” simply alerts the WLB to the fact that you are interested in acquiring a specific property. Your application will be reviewed, and you will be contacted with further instructions when the property sales process begins.
