The properties listed on this page include all WLB parcels that have been made available. Parcels are identified by their current status. Some parcels may be on hold due to a pending sale or it is under evaluation or may have been sold. If properties become available or the WLB acquires new parcels, they will be listed.
Properties that are available for sale are added to the web page as they are acquired and evaluated.
The Waterbury Land Bank Authority (“WLB”) promotes owner occupancy, that means, buyers who will occupy/reside within the houses they buy from us. Homeowner occupancy is mandatory for single family residences we sell; however, it is not for multi-family residences we sell.
Most of the properties we acquire consist of vacant land. Properties with residential structures (dwellings) typically include single family dwellings or two-three family dwellings. Single family properties sold by the WLB will require either of the two options: 1) the purchaser may be a contractor who will rehabilitate the structure on the property and sell it to a home buyer who will reside in the property; or 2) an individual that will rehabilitate the house on the property and will reside within the house. There is a 5-year occupancy requirement. This home ownership and residence requirement will be imposed via a deed restriction against the property. This restriction will be released after the 5-year compliance period. The WLB has a right of reversion to take back properties if buyers cannot meet the WLB restriction/compliance matters. Meetings are set up with potential buyers and their attorneys to go over the requirements.

The WLB has sold properties that are listed, and we are temporarily holding some parcels as we evaluate them for sale. We are continuously evaluating and acquiring property so, please check back to this web site in a few months if you do not see a property that is for sale. We can only post properties that we own. If you know of a parcel that you would like to acquire, and it is not on our website, please perform your due diligence on the parcel before calling our office.
To complete an application to bid on a specific property, simply click the “apply” indicator which is located on the bottom line of each property being offered for sale. You will be required to create a User Account to complete a bid application. The WLB will review all applications, and each applicant will be contacted. Follow up letters/emails and bid forms will be sent to applicants.
Completing an application does not constitute a binding offer to purchase a WLB property, nor does it constitute an agreement with the WLB. The opportunity to “apply” simply alerts the WLB to the fact that you are interested in acquiring a specific property. Your application will be reviewed, and you will be contacted with further instructions when the sales process begins. We appreciate your patience.
